The submersed profiler works at the bottom of the sea safe from the waves and storms on the surface. It is an ideal solution for regions where ice covers the sea during the winter.
The CTD is attached to a subsurface float that gives it positive buoyancy. Profiler’s winch raises the CTD to the surface by unwinding the cable from a drum. Constant readings are taken on the way resulting in a high-resolution vertical profile of the water column. The measured data is sent to Flydog’s advanced computing backend system over a seabed cable. The seabed cable also provides the system with power.
We have experience in integrating CTD-s from Sea-Bird, YSI, Idronaut. Other CTD-s can be integrated when sufficient documentation is provided. Our aim is to open up more opportunities for environmental data acquisition. The uniqueness of our innovation lies in using of multi-vendor sensors and seamless data collection, a straightforward approach to use any sensor needed.
The profiler can be controlled over a web-browser based user interface in real time allowing to get near real-time readings and make sure that the system has no downtime. It is possible to configure the profiling parameters but also take over the winch control manually.
